The Sims 3 Generations Private School
The Sims 3 is the third installment of The Sims franchise/series. Its creation was confirmed on. The Sims 3 Generations Game Guide. ♢ It is illegal to. Parents may also ask you to make sure their kids finish their homework after school, and perhaps teach them a few manners. They can invite other children up for some fun, or partake in a private fun time up in the Tree House by themselves.
Getting on Board with Boarding Schools[edit]
Nikita and Carwin now have five children in their family: Felix, Felicia Day, Disco, Broski, and Five. You can probably tell just from their youngest's name that they're out of inspiration and energy and need a break.
Back in The Sims 1, if your child was neglected for an extended amount of time, he would be removed and shipped off to military school. In game terms, it would remove him from the world permanently. In The Sims 3 Generations, external Boarding Schools are their own system designed to give parents a break and feature their own pros and cons.
With Felix nearly a teenager and Disco committed to 'raising' KF Fighting, Nikita decides that Felicia Day should be sent off to boarding school. The earliest you can make this decision is when the child in question is in the Child life stage, though you can do this while they're teenagers too. Toddlers are exempt since they're too young to actually go to any school, much less a private one.
Nikita grabs her cell phone, then uses the 'Enroll in Boarding School...' command. From there, she's got five different schools to choose from, and the choice is not exactly easy.
The main benefit of enrolling a child in a boarding school is that your child will learn job skills based on which school you choose, similar to Childhood After-school Activities. If you have a specific plan for a child, you can give them a huge boost by getting them in. Plus, you won't have to juggle their lives in addition to your other Sims'.
The trade-off here is that your Sim has a chance of gaining traits that match the school too, so you'll lose some control over how the child is raised. It's nothing that can't be erased; if your child winds up with a lot of traits you dislike, you can always buy the Mid-Life Crisis lifetime reward and reset them manually. Of course, the traits tend to favor the same jobs and professions that the job skills do, so even the traits may be what you desire. A table at the bottom of this page will tell you the costs and traits associated with each school.
Nikita decides to enroll Felicia in LeFromage Art School. She enrolls immediately, but doesn't leave yet. It'll give Felicia one last day to get her affairs in order, not that she has many. Felicia can spend the day having fun, increasing her relationships, and working on any job skills to give herself a little boost. She's even excused from public school that last day!
Once the time comes around, Felicia hops in the cab and is driven off the map. She becomes removed from our control, but she still counts against the family's Sim count. Felicia's portrait remains on the left bar, but she's got a gray background and we can't select her.
If you have your Sims set to life spans shorter than default, your kids will likely stay there for their entire life stage. If you're using default or longer life spans, your kids might come home now and then for weekends. Either way, just because your child is away doesn't mean you can't interact with them. As Felicia said in that push notification above, we can call her anytime to see how she's doing and improve relationship scores.
If for some reason Nikita absolutely wants Felicia back in the family, she can use her cell phone and use the 'Remove from Boarding School...' command to get her back. The entrance fee is forfeit, and Felicia won't have much to show for it, but she would at least be back under our control.
